The board blank on the right of this pic shows the appearance on the bottom prior to the slot milling. On the left, the finished bottom-side slot is run out to the stringers and slot terminal elements. The milling is a two step process where the slot is first rough hogged then finish machined.
This pic of the topside prior to the deck surface attachment clearly shows the revision to the GiVA track. The slot width was reduced by ~ 1/4" to allow the elevator bolt to be machined with flats to prevent head rotation which was causing the bottom-side track to wallow.
The pic to the left shows off the last step in the machining process. Access for the bolts to be inserted from the bottom is machined to fit the head of the elevator bolt.
This is the next to the last post on the 40" boards for a while - the tracking numbers will be texted to you when the boards go out. Next up will be more wedges - going to crank out a run for the spring slalom season. Once done, ordering instructions will be posted up.
later, night.
Tweek, Tweek, Tweek, Tune, Tune, Tune, Ship, Ship, Ship, Soon, Soon, Soon!
Between work and life - but I repeat myself - the board building has just been getting along without much fanfare. A pretty tough obstacle reared up and slowed things but instead of panic, the work just got put into the pipeline and when the slot opened up got done.
The GiVA track showed up an opportunity for improvement that will be detailed in the next post but the short of it is a retooling had to take place after testing showed significant wear in the track after a number of plate adjustments and changes.
The Marva Beam Core is - interesting. Used in a few project boards, it is very stiff on the 7/8" centers but there is something........ This is the first series of boards this approach has been used on so, yeah.
Boards 1 and 2 in the series have been reserved for fit, finish and destructive testing. After all the work, it sucks to break em but can't be helped. I feel a serious bender coming on. Regardless, boards # 3, 4 and 5 in this series are getting buttoned up now that the GiVA track retooling is finished. Hope it was worth the time you and I have invested in it guys.
